Description
Azamor Single Estate – Alentejo, Portugal
🏷️ Summary
A bold yet beautifully balanced Portuguese red from the sun-drenched Alentejo. Azamor Single Estate is rich, smooth and characterful, combining ripe dark fruit with gentle spice and a polished finish. A superb example of modern Portuguese winemaking with strong sense of place.
🍇 Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in colour. Aromas of blackberry, ripe plum and dark cherry lead the nose, followed by hints of sweet spice, cocoa and dried herbs. On the palate it is medium- to full-bodied, plush and rounded, with smooth tannins, well-integrated oak and a long, warming finish that remains fresh and balanced.
🍽️ Food Pairing
Ideal with grilled or roasted red meats, lamb, pork, hearty stews and mature cheeses. Also works beautifully with Mediterranean dishes and smoky flavours. Serve at 16–18 °C.
🏡 Winemaking & Story
Produced from a single estate in the Alentejo, one of Portugal’s most important red-wine regions, Azamor reflects the area’s warm climate and ancient soils. The vineyards benefit from hot days and cooling nights, allowing grapes to ripen fully while retaining structure.
Typically made from a blend of traditional Portuguese varieties such as Aragonez (Tempranillo), Trincadeira and Alicante Bouschet, the wine is fermented in stainless steel and partially aged in oak to add depth and texture without masking the fruit. The result is a rich but approachable red that balances power with elegance.
